Weekly Progress
Week Five:
After some Group discussion, the group decided that a concentrater was the best option to go with for a few reason:cost effective compared to solar panel, easier to design and more feasible.
Goals
Modify Final Design
Order Supplies
Begin Building Process
Modify Final Design
Change in design: switch from solar panels to
Parabolic Mirror
Design in Creo
Provides enough energy to boil water
Calculate focal point
Structure
Mirror maneuverability
Material
Condenser design
Week Four:
Goals
Finish design of filtration system
Solar Panel or Concentrator

Cost of materials
Next Week
Have materials ordered
Begin computer design of syste
Outcomes for the week:
Designed a wood base that contained eighteen 3 in by 6 inch solar panels.
Components:
Wood Base approximately 26 inches by 29 inches by 2.5 inches and made of pine wood
18 3 x 6 solar panels
Plastic top to cover the solar panels encased in the box.
After week one the group has decided on an general topic idea. The group has thought of an idea to which will filter water via creating steam and then using gravel and sand filters. The whole thing will be powered by solar panels on the outside of the device. The goal is to have this device filter dirty water with only using sunlight since in many third world countries the amount of days with usable sunlight is high.
